Spring Meet, May 21, Grants Pass

Excited to announce the West Coast Crosley Club's first-ever meet-up in the Pacific Northwest: Saturday, May 21 in Grants Pass, Oregon!

Martha Straube is organizing and can answer any questions about nearby hotels, things to do, etc.

You'll find a registration form and more details in the new Tin Block Times, which goes out in the mail in the next few days.

We'll meet up at 9AM at 1893 NE 7th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526. We'll show the cars until lunchtime, then take a short cruise to get lunch. "Official" meet activities end at 2PM.

2021 WEST COAST CLUB MEET: October 15 & 16, Bakersfield, CA

We missed the club’s 35th Anniversary Meet last year – so we’re making this meet EXTRA-SPECIAL to make up for it. Our first-ever visit to Bakersfield will feature a visit to the fantastic Frank Lloyd Wright-designedAblin Residence. Wright was an avid Crosley fan, and owned a fleet of Hot Shots for his students to use. SAVE THE DATES - you don't want to miss this!

Quite a few members have expressed concerns about the new Delta variant of COVID-19 - specifically about sharing an indoor meal at the Banquet on Saturday night.

As a precaution, we have decided to move the Club Banquet to the grounds of the Ablin House, where we can hold the the dinner OUTSIDE. The temperature that evening should be very mild - predicted to be about 65 degrees.

We have a lovely caterer who will offer an EXCELLENT spread: Housemade Pasta, Local Grass Fed Beef and Heritage Pork Meatballs, Caesar Salad with House Dressing and Sourdough Garlic Bread, Locally-made Ice Cream and Cookies and Local Beer and Wine. The cost is the same as the Hodel's dinner would have been - $25 per person.

Unfortunately, this will disrupt our original plan to have a catered breakfast at the Ablin House on Sunday morning.

Given the circumstances, we felt that it was best to put the priority on the safety of the Saturday Banquet, so we are opting to cancel the scheduled events on Sunday, including breakfast and the Crosley Cruise. If you sent in payment for the Sunday breakfast we will send a refund.

The meet weekend kicks off with an informal afternoon pot luck starting at 3PM at the Meet Hotel: (Ask for Special Crosley Club Group Rate) Four Points by Sheraton, 5101 California Ave, Bakersfield, California 93309, 661-325-9700. No scheduled activities, but a great time for bench racing and bull sessions with other Crosley nuts.

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Crosley Cars and Parts Swap Meet; Crosley Car Show; Lunch; The Giant Raffle; Crosley How-To “Tech Session”

6:00 PM: Crosley Club Banquet at the Ablin House. Includes: Club Business Meeting, Election of Officers and presentation of the Awards for the meet. AS NOTED ABOVE, THE BANQUET WILL BE HELD OUTDOORS FOR SAFETY REASONS - PLEASE DRESS FOR 60-65 DEGREES.

Better Late Than Never: New TBT Ready to Ship!

I just got back from dropping the new issue of the Tin Block Times off with Marty and Sherri Stein, our esteemed mail volunteers: they are now working on getting 200 copies stuffed into envelopes, stamped, addressed and dropped off at the Post Office this week. A small blizzard is headed their way as I speak, but you know the saying about the mail and sleet and snow....

The cover date on this issue is "December 2020" -- which seemed like an easy deadline when I was getting everything finalized for print. I should have known that with the pandemic, everything was going to take a bit longer than usual... in retrospect, I'm lucky this got out in January!

That said, I'm very happy with how the issue turned out. As advertised, this is the David Brodsky Memorial Issue; we got so much great material from club members and David's family that I couldn't even fit everything - I had to hold one article back to run next issue!

Thanks much for your patience, and start checking your mailboxes at the end of the week - I'm sure Marty and Sherri will get them posted ASAP!

2019 West Coast Meet: Oct 25-27, Pacific Grove, CA

The West Coast Crosley Club will be hold our annual West Coast Regional Club Meet on October 25-27, 2019 in Pacific Grove, California.

The unofficial kick-off for the Meet is the Friday Night Potluck, October 25 at the Monterey Peninsula Inn in Pacific Grove. This informal get-together usually starts around 3:30PM and winds up in the early evening. Bring a snack to share and be prepared to talk Crosley!

Saturday, October 26, the club will host a Crosley parts swap, two Tech Sessions and a display of Crosley cars in Jewell Park at the intersection of Central and Forrest Avenues in Downtown Pacific Grove from 9AM to 2:30PM. A club raffle will follow lunch, and then we will reconvene at 6PM for the Annual Club Banquet, where the Awards will be announced.

On Sunday, October 27, we'll meet after breakfast for the fabulous Crosley Cruise! Crosley drivers (and members in their 'regular' cars) are invited to take a 30 mile microcar-friendly cruise through the beautiful landscape of the Monterey Bay region. The cruise route will include the famed 17-Mile Drive and we'll make stops to check out attractions all along the way. The Meet ends when the Cruise returns to Pacific Grove at about 1:00PM.
